Recently, the result of the annual Design Talent Competition held by the iF Industrie Forum Design is released. The team of Gao Yusen (a graduate student from Grade 2016), instructed by Zhang Xiaoping, a teacher from Department of Industrial Design of School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering of XPU, participated in the competition..Among the total 9,000 works from 48 countries,their work Emergency Communication stood out and won the 2018 iF Student Design Award (62 works won this award).The other product Food spoilage detector designed by Gao Yusen’s team won the Finalist Award.

Emergency Communication is to use the unmanned aerial technology to quickly establish a temporary emergency network to promote safe and effective rescue operations before the communication system is restored in the earthquake-stricken area. Food spoilage detector uses sensitive sensors to detect and analyze the gas environment of refrigerators or food storage cabinets in order to determine whether the food is deteriorating or not, and to prompt the user to immediately eat or discard it, thereby effectively reducing food waste.
